Visualizing Your Automations
Node-Red makes it easy to wire up automations in a visual manner. Most of the automations in my house are run through Node-red which makes it easy to update and modify and tweak.
Alarm System
The house has sensors on all doors and windows. These are tied into a Home Assistant alarm component that allows the alarm to be armed depending on certain conditions. This is generally our presense at home.

Cameras
Smoke Alarm
If smoke is detected the alarm system will start harassing myself and my partner over email and slack every 5s. It will politely email you about the fire.

Flood and Motion Sensors
A flood sensor in the sink and some lighting when going to the bathroom. Magic!
Whole Home Audio
The chromecast network will turn speakers on and off as needed. Nice.
Physical Switches
All the physical switches in the house can be reconfigured as needed.
Vacation Mode
The house runs some randomized timers to ensure that we fool everyone that we are home. Way better than Kevin Macallister.
Random Item
Turn a light on at 19:28 every day. Why? Why not??
